ABOUT THE AREA
Carmel Highlands
Carmel Highlands, located just 3.5 miles south of Carmel-by-the-Sea, is an unincorporated community within Monterey County, CA. At an elevation of 318 feet, it is also located just south of the Point Lobos State Reserve, and serves as the northern gateway of the Big Sur coastline along California State Hwy 1. It was developed in the early 1900’s by Frank Powers and Franklin Devendorf.
The neighborhood rests on a fairly steep incline affording spectacular views of the Big Sur coastline and back towards Point Lobos and Pebble Beach. Several of the properties are on the oceanfront, some with access to private coves and beaches.
Amidst the residential area, there is a gas station, a few shops, Tickle Pink Inn and the Highlands Inn (a Hyatt Residence Club facility).
